I hesitate to fill out a new profile on the new machine because I don't want to over write my existing agile keychain file and all the passwords in it. Same story as above.īoth of those actions above could conform to what the Agile Bit's documentation says for setting up a new machine and using an existing, sync'ed agile keychain. I just keep getting recycled back to enter password dialog box. and it will give me a small dialog window asking for the Master Password, but the password I used for that agile keychain gets rejected. It doesn't show me the Master Login window. 1Password flashes a loading dialog window and then.nothing. I navigate to ~/Dropbox and select my agile keychain file.

If I take choice 2 I get a file finder window. When I go to setup 1Password on the new Mac I have two choices when I first run it: The Dropbox sync occurred and I can see the same keychain file on my other Mac. It's completely populated with passwords and a master password on the agile keychain as been set. I have 1Password installed on one machine. I've followed Agile Bit's help guide for setting up a new Mac but it's not working. I seemed to have gelled with Keeper in my cursory trial, … but like you I am not rushing, … I am sure some experts will do this topic over in detail in coming weeks, … and I will give 1Password8 a good trial.This should be so straightforward but it's not working for me. Keeper seems to get to top or near the top of some reviews, … seems to have similar functionality to 1Password but local storage.

I have loaded trial versions of Secret and Keeper. I have had a look at other alternatives and there is quite a few around when you start digging around. With this is mind I am wondering if I could manage okay with the password system in Monterey. I have an ageing iMac 27 on Catalina and waiting for a M1 model. I think this new model introduced by 1Password will trigger many users to reassess the way forward. I am recently retired so my use case and computing keeps evolving. Its okay with a few expected glitches, but I loath the “family” icon on its front face. I am now trying out the new release version 8. on your devices or sync it with cloud services like iCloud or Dropbox. In an oddity I did buy a subscription but have kept using the standalone 1Password7. 1Password Available on Mac, iOS, Windows, Android, and Linux 1Password is another. I have used 1Password since at least 2009, possibly longer. What other apps would you recommend me checking out before making a decision (I’m in no hurry since I expect that 1Password v7 will continue working for quite some time)? Dashlane, as I understand it they are requiring use of their servers.BitWarden, there also seem to be various forks but I haven’t figured out how good the integration with iOS/macOS is.

Keychain, rumored to be better in new versions of iOS/macOS.So I started to look at what’s available and there are quite a few, my current alternatives are (I’m hesitant of apps from unknown developers) Good reputation and track record of the developers, preferable external review of security etc.I’m not entirely negative to subscriptions but I want “local” archives.It would be nice if it could handle different datatypes (similar to 1Password).I very much prefer a native experience (my experiences from Electron apps are not … entirely positive).Decent integration with iOS/macOS (similar to what 1Password have).Not being required to use the servers of a specific company (especially not if they are in the US or outside EU).(no, I’m not interested in a discussion of these three items, just humor me) I could probably live with any of these changes but all three together is reason for me to check out the alternatives. There are three things in v8 that have made me decide to look at what’s out there: During that time 1Password have been an excellent choice for me, but now is the time to see if I should continue using 1Password or switch to something else. The last time I checked what passwords managers that was available was when I switched from Web Confidential to 1Password … so at least 12 years ago.
